Package Lab™ brings qualitative research “closer to the shelf” by:

  • Simulating the shelf context via physical shelves, life-size shelf prints or virtual simulations
  • Conducting in-depth interviews (IDIs) with shoppers, which are focused on shopping exercises

This methodology can be conducted at PRS facilities or clients’ innovation centers. It is recommended later in the design/development process, when a more limited range of 3-5 concepts is under consideration.  

Specifically, it is recommended to identify on-shelf issues (such as limited awareness, poor differentiation or shop-ability confusion) and guide refinements that will increase the likelihood of success in quantitative validation (PRS On-Shelf Evaluation).
